Brief about Project: LEPRA Society will start implementation of Rural Eye Health Programme in three blocks of Rayagada district, Odisha, with the overall goal of “To reduce avoidable blindness and ensure continuity of care for vulnerable populations affected by vision impairment and blindness.” The project area includes three blocks namely, Bisam Cuttack, Muniguda and Kolnara of Rayagada district, Odisha.

Essential Job Responsibilities:
The Block Coordinator will be responsible for the overall planning, execution, field supervision, and community mobilization for the Rural Eye Health Programme at the block level. Operating in assigned blocks (Bisam Cuttack, Muniguda, or Kolnara) in Rayagada district, the position will ensure the effective delivery of eye care interventions, including community eye screening camps, referral pathways, continuity of care, and door-to-door awareness campaigns for vulnerable populations. The Block Coordinator will work closely with LEPRA project leadership, local government health machinery (ASHAs, ANMs, PHCs/CHCs), district health authorities, and community leaders to reduce avoidable blindness and achieve project outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
• Coordinate day-to-day project implementation at block level.
• Prepare monthly plans and monitor targets for screening, referrals, surgery, spectacles and school eye health.
• Mobilise underserved communities through Vision Centres, outreach and community networks.
• Coordinate with Netra Sathis, ASHAs, AWWs, schools, Panchayats and community leaders.
• Follow up referrals to improve surgery uptake and continuity of care.
• Support Vision Centre functioning and hospital linkages.
• Supervise field staff and monitor performance.
• Maintain records and ensure timely reporting.
• Identify barriers, collect community feedback and facilitate corrective action.
• Document field experiences and participate in reviews and training.
Technical /Area of Expertise: The candidate should possess strong expertise in community health programming, primary eye care or public health interventions, and field-level project execution within rural or tribal regions. Complementing this is demonstrated competency in grassroots community mobilization, stakeholder coordination with government health cadres, field team monitoring, patient tracking/referral systems, and local language communication (Odia) to ensure seamless healthcare access for marginalized populations.
Education qualification required: Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with 2 years minimum experience.
Skills required:
Primary: Grassroots Community Mobilization, Public Health Field Execution, Health Referral & Patient Tracking Systems, Stakeholder Coordination (Government Health Cadres/ASHAs/PHCs), Field Data Collection & Progress Reporting.
Secondary: Local Language Proficiency (Odia), Team Supervision & Monitoring, Community Health Training & Awareness, Logistics & Screening Camp Management, Problem-Solving in Rural/Tribal Contexts.
