1. Organisation Background
United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is the lead United Nations agency working towards a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe, and every young person’s potential is fulfilled. Guided by human rights principles, UNFPA’s work focuses on four strategic outcomes: (i) ending preventable maternal deaths, (ii) ending unmet need for family planning, and (iii) ending gender-based violence and harmful practices, and (iv) strengthening demographic resilience through evidence-based responses to population dynamics and demographic change. Across all its interventions, UNFPA places women, adolescents, young people, and older persons at the centre, with a strong emphasis on gender equality, bodily autonomy, dignity, and rights across the life course.
