Salaam Baalak Trust Delhi is a not-for-profit and non-governmental organisation, based in Delhi, India; registered under the Indian Registration Act (1908). The Trust was established in December 1988 and provides support services for street and working children in the National Capital Region.

37 years ago, we discovered the world of street children within the harsh, raw, underbelly of Delhi. And yet, it was a life these children had chosen in preference to home and family - which had obviously become entirely intolerable. There is so much missing from the lives of these children - food, security, health, education, and love. We urged ourselves as these resources are the birthright of all children as well as basic requirements - a secure space to sleep, play, and dream.
Position Overview:
The Teacher/Social worker is responsible for conducting classes at the centre carrying out assessments for the continuous evaluation of students’ learning progress. The role focuses also focuses on field visit , linking to social protection schemes, Accounts, stock and MIS handeling.

Key Responsibilities
• Conduct internal assessments of each child to determine appropriate educational placement or stream.
• Maintain detailed records of students’ academic progress and performance.
• Attend and actively participate in Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs).
• Support and assist in the admission process of children into schools or educational programs.
• Coordinate with schools regarding children’s attendance, performance, and progress.
• Conduct in-house tests and evaluations to assess learning outcomes.
• Adapt teaching methods to suit children with limited or no prior educational exposure.
• Bridge learning gaps to prepare children for admission into formal schooling.
• Documentaion work including accounts work, MIS and stck handling.
• Field visit in community , linking children /adults with social protection schemes.

Qualifications & Skills
Qualifications:
• Minimum qualification: Graduation.
• Mandatory: Training or certification in Nursery Teacher Education (NTE)
• Basic computer knowledge

Skills & Experience:
• Prior experience working with children is preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• High level of patience, creativity, and adaptability.
• A genuine passion for teaching and working with children from vulnerable backgrounds.
