Urban Waste Management Capacity Building Programme

Waste Wise Academy, a development organization working in the areas of environmental sustainability, urban governance, sanitation, and waste management, invites applications from qualified and experienced professionals for empanelment as Resource Persons/Trainers to support training and capacity-building programmes for sanitation workers, engineers, community mobilizers, and other urban sector stakeholders.

Resource Person/Trainer – Urban Waste Management

Areas of Expertise

Municipal Waste Collection, Transportation, and Processing Systems

Waste Processing and Resource Recovery Technologies
Composting, Biomethanation, and Waste-to-Energy Systems
Information, Education and Communication (IEC)
Behaviour Change Communication (BCC)
Community Engagement and Social Mobilization
Urban Sanitation and Environmental Management
Circular Economy and Sustainable Waste Management Practices

Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Public Health Engineering, Urban Planning, Rural Development, Social Work, Management, or related disciplines.

Relevant certifications and specialized training in waste management, sanitation, environmental management, or communication will be an added advantage.

Experience
Minimum 5 years of professional experience in the relevant thematic area.
Demonstrated experience in conducting training programmes, workshops, capacity-building initiatives, and technical sessions.

Experience working with Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), Government Departments, State Missions, Development Agencies, NGOs, Academic Institutions, or donor-supported projects.

Knowledge of national and state policies, including Swachh Bharat Mission (Urban), Solid Waste Management Rules, Plastic Waste Management Rules, and related regulatory frameworks.

Key Responsibilities
Deliver technical training sessions for urban sector officials and stakeholders.
Facilitate workshops, exposure visits, and practical demonstrations.
Develop and update training modules, presentations, case studies, and learning materials.
Support capacity-building programmes on urban waste management and sanitation.
Provide technical guidance and mentoring to participants.
Document training outcomes and contribute to knowledge products.

Desired Skills
Excellent communication, facilitation, and presentation skills.
Strong understanding of urban waste management systems and best practices.
Experience in adult learning methodologies and participatory training approaches.
Ability to communicate effectively in Hindi and/or English.
Willingness to travel for training assignments.
Engagement Modality

Resource Persons will be engaged on an assignment/session basis for training programmes conducted at various locations. Remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications, experience, and nature of assignment.
