Job Description
JOB PURPOSE
You are responsible for the medical strategies and public health leadership for the assigned country programs. You initiate reflection and learning on health topics of relevance to the organization.
Job Overview
- Working in tandem with the Operations Manager to effectively address the unmet health needs in the assigned countries
- Working in close collaboration with the Health Advisor
- Collaborating and providing strategic guidance to other Operations Support Team (OST) members on public health and other relevant topics
- Collaborating with other MSF sections and health agencies for the coordination/alignment of country health programs.
- Participating actively in the Health Programs Platform (and other organizational platforms) to share successes, challenges and dilemmas to leverage institutional knowledge.
- Visiting country and project team as required.
Main Responsibilities
- Medical and health strategies are created for the countries assigned in the portfolio
- Key health-related staff (Medical Coordinators, Health Advisors, other health staff) are properly managed and mentored.
- Leadership of Medical Support Teams (groups of specialists and advisors) to ensure coordinated support to health programs in the various country programs.
- Driving the quality assurance and patient safety goals across the portfolio of countries
- Oversight of medical budget lines for assigned countries
- Direction and support to country management team including conformance with medical ethics policies and agreed standards
- Contributions to strategies/policies within the organization as well as sharing of successes and dilemmas from country programs in organizational forums
- Innovation research and advocacy initiatives to improve health programming
- Contribution to the content of, and realization of, internal training modules
- Support to MSF- OCA Fundraising/communication activities as required.

Requirements
Educational Qualifications & Functional / Technical Skills
- Registered Medical/Paramedical/Public Health Professional
- MSc in a Public Health or Global Health related domain
Relevant Experience
- 8+ years of field experience in humanitarian aid, plus senior management
- Broad knowledge on clinical governance, health information systems, medical ethical frameworks, medical supply management and people management

We offer:
- Contract duration is three year with a possibility of extension for another three years.

- Compensation gross per month range USD 3084 - USD 4396 – (Salary is offered in line with our pay framework and typically starts at the entry point of the band. Salary increases are considered annually; final salary will depend on the scaling of the CV as per MSF criteria).
- 13th Month bonus (equivalent to one month gross) will be additional.
- Medical: MSF provides medical reimbursement for employees and their dependents as per MSF health care policy.
- This is an international vacancy with MSF South Asia and we provide MSF South Asia’s international package benefits of monthly housing allowance (USD 734 for single / USD 916 for family) , child education allowance (up to USD 417 per child, annual holiday ticket and relocation package.
