ABOUT THE POSITION:
The position of Senior Manager - Monitoring, Evaluation, Research & Learning (MERL) will mainly provide comprehensive M&E support to ensure project successful delivery. The Specialist shall be a member of a multi-disciplinary team of MERL specialists, who specialize in Education.
Key Responsibilities: Below are the responsibilities but not limited to:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Monitoring and Evaluation:
- Design and implement MERL frameworks and Theories of Change for the programs initiated by the organization;
- Support the MERL team in conducting internal and external evaluations of Education projects, including preparing study instruments, developing analysis plans, team training, and overseeing the data collection and report submission;
- Support the program teams in the capacity building on the tracking of activities and reporting of project data as per the defined quality standards. Knowledge and previous experience developing/rolling out technology solutions on online MIS platforms will be desirable;
- Analysis of project-based MIS data and evaluation results to inform programmatic improvements;
- Support project proposal development for logic frameworks, indicators and evaluation plans; and, build and manage research partnerships with consultants and research organizations to ensure timely submission of quality research deliverables.
2. Knowledge and Learning:
- Promote learning as an integral component of programs and support the AIF team in presenting evidence at internal and external platforms;
- Create mechanisms of tracking current research and literature relevant to Education sector.
- Support the program and communication teams in systematically disseminating project results and evidence among internal and external audiences;
- Contribute to organization-wide knowledge management activities, e.g., participating in MERL events and discussions;
- Support the supervisor in developing technical papers, research briefs, and articles submitted in peer-reviewed journals and conferences; and,
- Represent AIF in various stakeholder meetings including donors, CSR forums, associations, and organizations for increasing the visibility of the research outputs and knowledge products of the organization
Qualifications & Experience:
- Full-time master’s degree/ PhD/ PG diploma in Management/ Social Science/ Development Studies/ or any other equivalent discipline from a reputed academic institution
- 10 - 12 years of experience in a similar role in a reputed organization, showing progressive responsibility over the years. An understanding of the social/ development sector.
- Experience in developing research protocols, sampling, development of M&E indicators and measures and using qualitative and quantitative social research techniques;
- Strong writing skills with attention to detail and the ability to document fast, accurately, and comprehensively;
- Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word) and commonly used program management tools;
- Strong experience using statistical software for quantitative analysis (SPSS, STATA, etc.) and qualitative analysis (ATLAS.Ti/ NVivo). Experience of analyzing large-scale datasets is desirable
Skills and Behavioral Competencies:
- Strong communication skills (written and oral) to effectively correspond with a diverse audience. The role requires a strong proficiency in spoken and written English and Hindi (essential) and another Indian language (desirable)
- Willingness to travel extensively anywhere in India, especially rural India.
- Ability to handle work pressure and deliver under tight schedules
- Ability to work effectively in teams and lead a team of researchers when required
- Attention to detail
- Clarity of thought, patience, a flexible attitude and a willingness to learn and take ownership
