Scope of work
Vital Strategies is seeking a short-term consultancy contract based in Bengaluru, Karnataka, to support road crash surveillance and analysis activities. This position involves coordinating crash data collection and management activities with government stakeholders, supporting data quality assurance, conducting routine analysis, building technical capacity, and engaging with key government officials and partner institutions. This position is embedded with the state government. The ideal candidate will combine strong coordination and technical skills with experience in public health surveillance, data management, and stakeholder engagement.
This is a short-term consultancy contract based in Bengaluru, Karnataka, requiring regular coordination with government and partner agencies, flexibility to travel locally as needed, and close collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
Further extension of the contract will be subject to project requirements and performance.
Duties and Responsibilities :
Responsibilities:
• Coordinate road crash surveillance and data collection activities with relevant stakeholders
• Manage, validate, and maintain surveillance data to ensure accuracy, quality, and confidentiality
• Analyze data and prepare reports, dashboards, presentations, and actionable insights
• Coordinate and support government stakeholder engagement, partners’ coordination, and capacity-building initiatives
• Monitor data quality, maintain documentation, and ensure timely project reporting
• Assist in implementation of surveillance activities and other project requirements as assigned
Qualifications:
Education:
• Master’s degree in public health, Epidemiology, Statistics, Social Sciences, Transport Planning/Engineering, Data Science, Health Informatics, or related fields
Languages:
• Proficiency in English, Hindi, and local language(s)
Skills and Abilities –
• Language proficiency: Local language proficiency in Kannada is mandatory.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Advanced Excel), Epi Info, QGIS/ArcGIS or any mapping tool, and other data management, data analysis, visualization, and automation tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, SQL, AI-enabled tools, or similar platforms)
• Strong analytical, communication, documentation, stakeholder management, and organizational skills
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary, multi-agency setting and interact professionally with government officials, partners, and stakeholders
• Exceptional attention to detail in data management, analysis, and documentation
• Ability to work independently and take initiative while being responsive to supervisor feedback and team requirements
Experience:
• Minimum 8 years of experience in public health, project development, or program management
• Experience supporting or leading complex programs or projects
• Prior experience working closely with government stakeholders
