We are seeking a dynamic and committed professional to lead our Self-Help Group (SHG) in Income Generation Initiatives.
Project Head – Livestock
We are looking for an experienced Project Head – Livestock to support Umeed’s Self Help Groups (SHGs) District Sangrur, Punjab in developing livestock-based livelihood activities that increase household income and improve rural livelihoods.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify suitable livestock-based livelihood opportunities for SHGs.
- Provide technical guidance and training in:
- Goat farming
- Piggery
- Dairy/Cattle farming
- Poultry (where applicable)
- Organize training programmes, demonstrations, and exposure visits.
- Support SHGs in planning and managing livestock-based enterprises.
- Assist SHGs in accessing government schemes, subsidies, and financial assistance.
- Develop market linkages for livestock and livestock products.
- Coordinate with veterinary departments, government agencies, banks, and partner organizations.
- Monitor project implementation and provide regular technical support.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree or diploma in Veterinary Science, Animal Husbandry, Livestock Production, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in livestock development, animal husbandry, or rural livelihood projects.
- Experience working with SHGs, NGOs, or rural communities is preferred.
- Good communication, training, and community mobilisation skills.
- Willingness to travel to project locations.
Preference
Preference will be given to candidates from Punjab or those with substantial experience working with rural communities in Punjab.
