Bhartiya Jan Utthan Parishad (BJUP) is a registered not-for-profit organisation established in 1983 by a group of committed and like-minded social workers under the leadership of Late Devendra Prasad Singh. BJUP works to empower marginalized communities by strengthening their skills, knowledge and capacities and enabling them to participate in decisions affecting their lives. Its programmes address poverty, discrimination, education, health, livelihood, protection and basic human rights through sustainable, rights-based approaches. BJUP works collaboratively with Government Departments, national and international development organisations, civil society organisations, CSR institutions and other stakeholders to promote inclusion, social equality and social justice. Position Overview: Legal cum Documentation Officer

BJUP is seeking a qualified legal professional to provide legal and documentation support for cases relating to bonded labour, labour rights, rehabilitation, compensation and access to justice.

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide legal advice and support in bonded labour and related cases.
• Review case facts and recommend appropriate legal action.
• Prepare and review complaints, petitions, representations and applications.
• Assist in obtaining release certificates, statutory rehabilitation benefits, unpaid wages and compensation.
• Coordinate with DLSA, Police, Labour Department, District Administration and courts.
• Maintain legal documentation, case files, status reports and case-wise follow-up.
• Provide legal orientation to programme and field teams and assist in interpretation of applicable laws and procedures.

Location: Nalanda, Bihar (1 Post) Compensation: Rs. 15,000-Rs. 20,000 per month as Honorarium, depending upon experience and suitability.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) is mandatory; enrolment as an Advocate with the Bar Council will be preferred.
• Preferably 3-5 years of relevant legal experience.
• Strong knowledge of labour laws, bonded labour legislation, human-rights law and criminal procedure.
• Experience in labour rights, trafficking, legal aid, victim compensation or human-rights matters will be an advantage.
• Strong legal drafting, documentation and communication skills and ability to coordinate with government agencies and courts.
• Exceptional fresh graduates from premier law institutions such as NLSIU Bengaluru, NALSAR Hyderabad, NLU Delhi, WBNUJS Kolkata or other reputed National Law Universities may also be considered based on knowledge, internships and demonstrated interest in labour and human-rights law.
