1. Job Purpose
The position will be responsible for overseeing the company's finance and accounting functions, financial reporting, statutory and regulatory compliance, audit coordination, internal financial controls, MIS and corporate governance requirements.
The role will work closely with senior management, auditors, the Company Secretary and other functional teams to ensure financial discipline, timely reporting, regulatory compliance and effective financial controls.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Accounts & Financial Accounting
• Oversee the overall functioning of the Accounts & Finance department.
• Review the accuracy, completeness and quality of accounting records and financial statements.
• Guide and supervise the accounts team on accounting matters and provide technical support wherever required.
• Ensure adherence to accounting policies, internal financial controls and established financial procedures.
• Review accounting processes and identify opportunities for improving financial controls and efficiency.
• Ensure timely closure of books of accounts and preparation of financial statements and related schedules.
B. Financial Planning & Management
• Prepare annual budgets and coordinate periodic reviews of actual performance against budget.
• Monitor utilisation of funds and ensure efficient deployment of financial resources.
• Monitor cash flows and ensure timely availability of funds for business requirements.
• Monitor investments and deployment of surplus funds in accordance with applicable policies and management guidelines.
• Provide management with regular updates on the company's financial position.
• Support senior management in financial analysis, planning and decision-making.
C. Statutory & Regulatory Compliance
• Ensure timely compliance with applicable statutory, financial and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor compliance calendars and ensure timely filing of applicable returns, statements and reports.
• Coordinate with statutory auditors, internal auditors and other professional advisors.
• Review audit observations and coordinate with the concerned teams for timely resolution and closure.
• Provide necessary information, explanations and supporting documentation to auditors and regulatory/government authorities.
• Keep management informed of significant compliance requirements, observations and potential financial or regulatory risks.
D. Audit & Internal Controls
• Coordinate the statutory and internal audit processes.
• Ensure availability of accurate financial records and supporting documentation for audits.
• Review audit observations and assist management in developing corrective and preventive actions.
• Monitor implementation of agreed audit recommendations.
• Strengthen internal financial controls and accounting processes.
• Identify control gaps and recommend appropriate measures to mitigate financial and operational risks.
E. MIS & Management Reporting
• Ensure timely preparation and circulation of financial MIS and management reports.
• Prepare financial analysis, variance reports and other reports required by senior management.
• Provide accurate financial information and explanations to management and the Board.
• Monitor key financial indicators and highlight significant deviations or areas requiring management attention.
• Ensure appropriate financial information is available for effective business decision-making.
F. Board & Corporate Governance
• Coordinate with the Directors and Company Secretary for quarterly Board Meetings.
• Assist in preparation of Board agendas, financial reports and agenda notes.
• Present or facilitate presentation of relevant financial information before the Board, as required.
• Coordinate with the Company Secretary for finalisation of Board meeting minutes and related documentation.
• Assist with Annual General Meeting requirements and other corporate governance activities.
• Coordinate with the Company Secretary for statutory forms, returns, minutes and other corporate secretarial requirements.
G. Stakeholder Management
• Coordinate with auditors, consultants, bankers, regulators, management and other external/internal stakeholders.
• Provide timely financial information and explanations to relevant stakeholders.
• Coordinate with various departments to ensure compliance with financial policies and reporting requirements.
• Maintain effective communication with senior management regarding financial, compliance and audit matters.
3. Key Deliverables
The successful candidate will be expected to ensure:
• Accurate and timely accounting and financial reporting.
• Timely completion of statutory and regulatory compliances.
• Smooth and efficient completion of statutory/internal audits.
• Timely closure of audit observations.
• Effective financial and internal controls.
• Regular and meaningful MIS for management decision-making.
• Effective monitoring of budgets, cash flows and fund utilisation.
• Proper documentation and compliance with Board and governance requirements.
4. Candidate Profile
Qualification:
• Chartered Accountant (CA) – mandatory.
• Accounts and Finance Controller/Manager.
Experience:
• Relevant post-qualification experience in Finance & Accounts, preferably in a financial services/NBFC environment of minimum 5 years.
• Experience in statutory compliance, audit, MIS and financial reporting.
• Experience in dealing with senior management, auditors and regulatory/statutory authorities will be an advantage.
