We develop and implement high-impact, sustainable, and locally-owned public health initiatives. A robust interface and relationships with the government, private sector, and civil society allow us to convene and collaborate, innovate, inform policy, and develop sustainable & scalable models of programs. Over the years, JSIPL has become a recognized leader for its innovative approaches in reproductive, maternal, newborn, and child health (RMNCH), Immunization, urban health, Tuberculosis, nutrition, supply chain management, climate change, and health system strengthening.
 
JOB SUMMARY  
JSIPL is seeking a dynamic, proactive, and detail-oriented Senior Manager Communications to drive the organization’s communications strategy and external positioning efforts, enhancing organizational visibility, thought leadership, stakeholder engagement, and brand equity. The role is central to reinforcing JSIPL’s positioning as a trusted technical partner with expertise across diverse health and development sectors by shaping a cohesive organizational narrative.
 
The Senior Manager will be responsible for conceptualizing, planning, implementing, and overseeing communication products and campaigns that reflect JSIPL’s work, achievements, innovations, and thought leadership across digital and traditional channels including social media, website, reports, presentations, newsletters, media outreach, events, and external stakeholder communications. Beyond content creation, the incumbent should be able to think critically about how each communication effort is positioned, designed, and presented, providing strategic guidance to project teams to ensure clarity, consistency, and maximum engagement across audiences. The Senior Manager should stay attuned to evolving communication and digital engagement trends, proactively introducing innovative approaches, tools, and platforms to strengthen JSIPL’s visibility, influence, and audience engagement.
 
The position involves close collaboration with the Managing Director, program leadership, technical teams, consultants, and external communication vendors/agencies to ensure alignment with organizational priorities and brand standards. The Senior Manager Communications will also coordinate with the JSI Home Office Communications team, ensuring compliance with global branding requirements while identifying opportunities to showcase India-led innovations, evidence, and impact globally.
 
While the role involves strategic planning, organizational positioning, and advising leadership on communication priorities, the Senior Manager Communications is expected to remain highly handson and execution-oriented. The incumbent will actively contribute to content development, editorial review, social media management, website updates, communication campaigns, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders. The ideal candidate should be equally comfortable shaping communication strategy and take responsibility to independently deliver high-quality outputs in a fastpaced environment.
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
 
1. Communications Strategy & Organizational Positioning  
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen JSIPL’s visibility, reputation, and thought leadership among government, donors, development partners, private sector stakeholders, and the broader public health community
  • Serve as a communications advisor to leadership and project teams on external positioning, messaging, stakeholder engagement, and dissemination strategies
  • Lead the development of key organizational communication products, including annual reports, corporate presentations, organizational profiles, brochures, factsheets, impact stories, and knowledge products
  • Track communication metrics and provide periodic analysis and recommendations to improve visibility, engagement, and reach  
2. Social Media Management
  • Develop and maintain a dynamic social media calendar
  • Plan, schedule, and publish engaging posts across JSIPL’s social media platforms for organizational visibility and outreach  
  • Collaborate with project teams to identify timely and relevant content opportunities; proactively set up periodic check-ins to curate updates
  • Assist project teams in creating high-quality, platform-specific content (text, images, videos), using appropriate hashtags, tags, and SEO-optimized keywords
  • Oversee the development of high-quality visual and multimedia assets through internal teams and external vendors, ensuring consistency with organizational branding
  • Monitor and moderate audience engagement, and analyze social media performance metrics
  • Regularly advise the Managing Director on emerging communication trends, audience insights, and opportunities to strengthen JSIPL’s visibility and influence, and take ownership of implementing approved initiatives to maximize engagement, reach, and impact.  
3. Website Management
  • Schedule regular meetups with project teams to update the project’s content, graphics, pictures and other data/information – keeping website updated at all times 
  • Lead ongoing website content strategy and optimization efforts, ensuring relevance, quality, accessibility, searchability, and alignment with organizational priorities
  • Monitor website analytics and user engagement trends and recommend improvements to strengthen user experience and visibility
  • Collaborate with internal IT team and website maintenance agency as the activity manager for structural changes or technical improvements (as/when needed) and ongoing website maintenance  
4. Knowledge & Digital Inventory Management
  • Maintain and regularly update JSIPL’s digital content repository, including photos, videos, graphics, publications, presentations, and branded materials
  • Establish a structured inventory system with proper tagging, categorization, and version control to ensure easy access and retrieval
  • Ensure all digital assets meet branding, copyright, and data privacy standards
  • Develop and institutionalize systems and processes for organizational knowledge capture, documentation, and dissemination 
5. Communications Support
  • Provide strategic communications guidance and editorial support to leadership and project teams for key reports, publications, presentations, events, and external communications
  • Ensure coherence and consistency in tone, branding, and messaging across all communication materials
  • Establish and enforce communication quality standards, branding guidelines, and review processes across the organization
  • Review critical communication materials developed by projects/consultants before dissemination
  • Coordinate communication support for conferences, workshops, launches, consultations, and other external events
  • Build and maintain relationships with communication partners, media representatives, and relevant external stakeholders
6. Content Development & Storytelling
  • Research, write, and edit content for press releases, blogs, reports, case studies, and stakeholder communications
  • Collaborate with project staff to identify powerful stories and testimonials that highlight project impact and stories of change
  • Translate technical and programmatic content into accessible, engaging formats tailored for different audiences
  • Lead the conceptualization and development of high-impact multimedia, digital, and knowledge products for diverse stakeholder groups
  • Identify and package evidence, innovations, lessons learned, and success stories into compelling communication products that strengthen JSIPL’s visibility and thought leadership
 
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
  • Master’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Social Work, or a related field
  • Minimum 8-10 years of progressively responsible experience in communications, public relations, knowledge management, digital communications, or organizational branding, preferably within the development, public health, or social impact sector
  • Demonstrated experience managing communication strategies, campaigns, publications, and organizational visibility initiatives
  • Proficiency with content management systems, and social media management tools 
  • Strong writing, editing, and visual content creation skills
  • Experience with basic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) and familiarity with SEO principles and website analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics) is a plus
