Brief on the Organization:
Indian Institute of Public Health Gandhinagar (IIPHG) is a University established under IIPHG Act, 2015 of Gujarat State. It offers courses in the field of Public Health. It also undertakes various research projects in the field of Public Health. The university is established by Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) with support from the Government of Gujarat, Department of Health & Family Welfare.
Project Brief
IIPHG received a grant from the Department of Health Research, Government of India, to establish a Resource Hub for Health Technology Assessment. The purpose of HTA is to support informed policymaking, and economic evaluation forms one of the core components of HTA studies. The Hub will contribute to establishing a transparent and comprehensive mechanism of HTA for prudent and better allocation of resources, ensuring better equity in and access to healthcare in India.
Deliverables:
• Lead the development of health economic models, including Decision Trees, Markov Models, Partitioned Survival Models, Microsimulation Models, and Dynamic Transmission Models for HTA and economic evaluation studies.
• Design model structures based on disease pathways, clinical guidelines, epidemiological evidence, and healthcare delivery systems.
• Build, validate, and maintain transparent and reproducible economic models using Microsoft Excel, TreeAge Pro, and R other relevant software’s.
• Conduct internal and external model validation, calibration, and verification exercises to ensure methodological rigor.
• Develop model documentation, technical specifications, assumptions, and validation reports.
• Perform Cost-Effectiveness Analysis (CEA), Cost-Utility Analysis (CUA), CostBenefit Analysis (CBA), Budget Impact Analysis (BIA), Return-on-Investment (ROI), and Financial Risk Protection assessments.
• Undertake deterministic, probabilistic, scenario, threshold, and value-ofinformation analyses.
• Support evidence synthesis through systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and indirect treatment comparisons.
• Provide technical mentorship to other researchers/Institution and contribute to national and international collaborative initiatives in HTA, health economic modelling, economic evaluation, and health systems research.
• Any other task given by the project PI.
Qualification:
• M.Sc. Life science/ MPH/MHA/ M. Pharma/Pharm. Degree with Data Science, Data Engineering, Computer Science
• Proficiency in R/Stata, Excel, and TreeAge Pro for data analysis, visualization, simulation, and economic modelling.
• Ability to translate complex clinical, epidemiological, and economic data into policy-relevant evidence for healthcare decision-making.
Desirable: Ph.D. degree Economics/ Microbiology/ Biochemistry/Biotechnology/Public health subject from a recognized University
Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in HTA Modelling
Desirable: 2 years of experience in HTA Modelling & R&D/Teaching experience in the relevant subject. Knowledge of Computer Applications or Business Intelligence tools/ Data Analysis and Management.
