Job Summary
The Technical Specialist – Financial Management & Accounting Services for Non-Profits will be responsible for providing financial management, accounting, systems review, capacity building, and advisory support to Non-Profit Organizations (NPOs). The role will involve assessing organizational financial systems, strengthening processes, supporting grant management frameworks, ensuring sound accounting practices, and working closely with clients to enhance transparency, accountability, and compliance.

Key Area: Responsibilities:
Systems Review & Development for NPOs:
• Undertake financial systems review and assessment of NPOs. Evaluate existing accounting, financial management, documentation, and internal control systems.
• Identify gaps and recommend improvements for strengthening organizational processes. Support development and implementation of financial policies, SOPs, formats, and control mechanisms.
Pre-Funding Assessments, Reviews & Evaluations:
• Conduct pre-funding assessments of potential partner organizations. Review financial systems, governance practices, compliance mechanisms, and operational processes.
• Prepare assessment reports highlighting risks, recommendations, and improvement areas. Support periodic reviews and evaluations of NPO partners.
Capacity Building & Training Support:
• Facilitate capacity-building programs for NPO staff on financial management, accounting practices, compliance, and reporting. Develop training materials, tools, and financial management resources.
Client Coordination & Advisory:
• Engage with NPO clients to understand requirements and provide appropriate financial solutions. Facilitate discussions, negotiations, and moderation with clients and stakeholders.
• Provide advisory support on financial processes, systems, and reporting requirements and maintain effective client relationships.
Grant Management & Reporting Framework:
• Support development and implementation of grant management frameworks. Assist organizations in grant budgeting, utilization tracking, monitoring, and reporting.
• Review grant-related financial documentation and compliance requirements. Support preparation of donor and management reports.
Accounting Services and Book Keeping & Record Keeping:
• Ensure accurate and timely maintenance of financial records and reports to make them audit-ready.
• Maintain books of accounts, vouchers, ledgers, bank reconciliations, and supporting documents, while ensuring proper classification of categories and transactions.
Financial Statements Preparation, Fund Accounting and Payroll Management:
• Prepare periodic financial statements including income & expenditure statements, balance sheets, related reports and conducting financial analysis.
• Maintain project/grant-wise accounting records, track utilization of restricted and unrestricted funds, monitor budgets against actual expenditure and support variance analysis and ensure donor-specific financial requirements are addressed.
• Support payroll processing activities including salary calculations, statutory deductions, and documentation with accuracy and confidentiality of payroll information.
Required Key Qualification & Skills :
• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Commerce, Finance, Accounting, Legal or related field. CA Inter/ICWA/other professional finance qualification preferred.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in financial management, accounting, audit, advisory services, or working with non-profit organizations including specialized knowledge of financial management, accounting systems, internal controls, organizational management, budgeting, financial reporting, and process strengthening.
• Good understanding of applicable legal and regulatory frameworks including Income Tax, FCRA, Labor Laws, and other statutory compliance requirements relevant to non-profit organizations.
• Strong analytical ability, documentation skills, stakeholder management, report writing, and capacity-building/facilitation skills.
