Job Purpose:
The Community Mobiliser will lead the implementation of the Nestle Project and ensure quality delivery of academic interventions for school-going children and youth. The role will involve coordinating project activities, managing field teams, strengthening community engagement, and facilitating scholarship support for deserving engineering students. The position aims to create pathways for quality education, higher education, and STEM careers among children and youth from underserved communities.
The Community Mobiliser is responsible for direct community engagement and implementation of project activities at the village level. Working under the guidance of the Cluster Coordinator, the Community Mobiliser will build relationships with community members, mobilize participation in project interventions, facilitate health, nutrition and behaviour change activities, and support the formation and strengthening of community groups.
The role requires regular field visits, close coordination with frontline workers and local institutions, accurate documentation, and timely reporting of field activities.
Three Community Mobilisers are deployed under each Cluster Coordinator and are responsible for field implementation across their assigned villages.
Key Responsibilities:
Programme Implementation
- Conduct household visits and community outreach activities as per project plans.
- Facilitate health, nutrition, sanitation, education and behaviour change sessions using approved IEC materials.
- Support implementation of village-level events, campaigns and demonstrations.
- Assist in beneficiary identification, enrolment and follow-up.
- Support referrals of beneficiaries to appropriate government services and healthcare facilities where required
Community Mobilization:
- Build rapport and maintain regular contact with households, community leaders and local institutions.
- Mobilize community members to participate in project activities, meetings, training sessions and awareness campaigns.
- Encourage participation of women, adolescents, children and vulnerable groups in project interventions.
- Promote community ownership and participation in project planning and implementation.
Community Group Strengthening
- Support formation and strengthening of community-based groups, including women's groups, youth groups and Village Development Committees.
- Facilitate regular meetings of community groups.
- Encourage community participation in identifying local issues and developing solutions.
Scholarship Facilitation
- Coordinate scholarship outreach activities in engineering colleges.
- Facilitate application, screening, documentation, and interview processes.
- Support due diligence and verification of shortlisted candidates.
- Coordinate scholarship disbursement and laptop distribution.
- Track academic progress and provide mentorship support to scholars.
Monitoring and Documentation
- Support project audits and monitoring visits.
- Maintain accurate records of field activities, beneficiary interactions and attendance.
- Collect and report project data in prescribed formats.
- Support surveys, assessments and monitoring visits.
- Report field challenges, community feedback and success stories to the Cluster Coordinator.
Community Engagement
- Work closely with Anganwadi Workers, ASHAs, Panchayat representatives, school teachers and other frontline stakeholders.
- Promote student participation and retention.
- Coordinate with the Cluster Coordinator to ensure smooth implementation of planned activities.
- Support visits by project staff, donors and government officials.
Behaviour Change Communication
- Deliver key health, nutrition, hygiene and community development messages using participatory methods.
- Address misconceptions through counselling and community engagement.
- Promote adoption of recommended practices among households.
Compliance
- Ensure adherence to organisational policies, safeguarding standards and ethical practices.
- Maintain confidentiality of beneficiary information.
- Follow all project guidelines and reporting requirements.
Educational Qualification & Experience:
- Bachelors’ Degree in Social Work, Education, Development Studies, or related disciplines.
- Minimum 1-3 years of experience in project implementation and team management in an NGO /development sector
- Experience in education scholarship programmes, health, nutrition or community development programmes preferred.
- Experience working in rural communities in Punjab is desirable.
- Basic computer and smartphone proficiency for data collection and reporting.
