Job Description – State MIS Consultant
Location: Kolkata, West Bengal
Duration: Consultancy contract up to 31 March 2027, with the possibility of renewal based on satisfactory performance and project requirements.

Position Summary:
The State MIS Consultant will be responsible for managing the programme's Management Information System (MIS) to ensure accurate, timely and high-quality data collection, analysis and reporting. The consultant will support programme monitoring, strengthen data quality, build the capacity of district teams, and provide evidence for programme planning, review and decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
• Maintain and update the State MIS database by consolidating data received from district MIS teams.
• Ensure timely collection, validation, cleaning and analysis of programme data from all districts.
• Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly and other periodic MIS reports, dashboards and analytical summaries.
• Track programme indicators against the Results Framework and identify gaps for corrective action.
• Provide technical support and orientation to District Coordinators and MIS personnel on data collection tools, reporting formats and data quality standards.
• Conduct regular data quality checks and field verification visits to ensure the accuracy and reliability of programme information.
• Support programme planning, monitoring, review meetings and donor reporting through evidence-based data analysis.
• Maintain proper documentation, digital records and backups of programme data while ensuring confidentiality and data security.
• Coordinate with programme teams, district staff and relevant government departments to strengthen reporting systems and information flow.
• Perform any other MIS and programme monitoring responsibilities assigned by the State Programme Lead.
Qualifications & Experience:
• Master's degree in Statistics, Computer Applications, Information Management, Social Work, Development Studies or a related discipline.
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in MIS, Monitoring & Evaluation or programme data management, preferably in the development sector.
• Proficiency in MS Excel (advanced functions), PowerPoint, Google Sheets and data visualization tools; experience with Power BI or similar software is desirable.
